What makes ILUMA different from older IQOS devices
Earlier IQOS devices heated tobacco sticks with a thin metal blade inserted into the stick. ILUMA devices remove that blade entirely and heat the stick from the outside using induction, which is the main reason ILUMA devices only accept Terea-format sticks rather than the older HEETS sticks made for blade-based devices. If you already own a non-ILUMA IQOS device, Terea sticks will not fit it, and the reverse is also true.

What you actually need to use it
An ILUMA device needs Terea-format sticks — it will not accept HEETS or any blade-format stick. Beyond that, day-to-day use is straightforward: charge the holder, insert a stick, and use it for a session.
